The CE-1278 CORCAP project, launched in 2019, aimed at spatial and logistical development of transport corridors of the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T). The project intends to build an efficient freight transport environment in Central Europe by improving freight transport connections between Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Hungary through the coordination of various activities and actors. The project, funded by the European Regional Development Fund’s Interreg Central Europe (CE) Programme is expected to be completed in March 2022.

Smart access control and traffic management system of Freeport of Budapest Logistics Ltd.

Within the framework of the T2 work package, the project partners have carried out a number of pilot development activities, including the recently successfully implemented pilot project entitled “Smart traffic management system for the Budapest Freeport Logistics Ltd.”

The concept was conceived by Freeport of Budapest Logistics Ltd. (FBL) and the test environment was provided by the Budapest DOCK Logistics and Industrial Park (DOCK). The smart system installed by FBL enables fast entry through high-precision vehicle identification and helps with route planning by sharing real-time information.

As part of the pilot project, license plate recognition cameras, smart LED screens and an information kiosk have been installed in the DOCK area, in order to facilitate the efficient movement of road vehicles within the port. In addition, FBL has developed the DOCK App mobile navigation application to ease orientation and route design to and within the logistics centre.

The DOCK App is available for users to download at the following link:  DockAPP – BUDAPEST DOCK (bszl.hu)

The innovative traffic management system implemented by FBL can be easily transposed for other intermodal logistics centres facing similar challenges as well.
