Description of the port:

Located 30 km from the southern border of Hungary the port loading terminal operates since 2002 in the port town BAJA on the Danube river.

The terminal provides transhipment services to third parties wishing to load river vessels with agricultural dry bulk cargo.

The operation is carried out through four metal silos with bins of 3.000 m3 each providing storage space for 10.000 metric tons heavy grain.

Inland cargo is delivered from the farms by lorries. Lorries of any type and size can be handled. Incoming cargo on the lorries is received and discharged into a bunker in a covered hall with efficient dust ventilation. The net weight of the incoming goods is ascertained by full and empty weighing on two 60 tons calibrated electronic weight bridges, connected to an electronic data-processing system.

Loading operation is carried out directly or indirectly through silo into the river motor vessels or barges. Short buffering in the silos is offered as part of the services provided. The real loading capacity is 300 tons/hour in terms of heavy grain.
Weight of the cargo loaded on the vessels from the silo is ascertained by automatic electronic through-flow scales.

Working hours of the terminal: Monday – Friday from 6 a.m to 10. p.m., in two shifts. Loading capacity: 1 cargo = abt. 1.000 tons per shift i.e. 2.000 tons a day, subject to availability of goods.

storing of the agricultural commodities like milling wheat, feed wheat, corn (maize) , barley, sunflower seed, rapeseed delivered by truck,
loading river vessels directly from lorries or from the silos by covered overhead beltconveyor,
discharge of the goods into trucks is also possible.

Loading operation is possible without restrictions at any navigable water level. Upon request customs clearance of the cargos can be done as an agent for a fee.
