Established on 1 September 2005 as the legal successor of MAHART-Freeport Ltd, Budapest Freeport Logistics cPLc has the 75-year-old operation right of Csepel Freeport as well as the the usufruct of the properties located within the area. The ownership is divided between the Waberer and the Erdert Group.
The land area operated by Budapest Freeport Logistics cPLc providing full port services covers about 108 hectares. In its three operating basins there are 18 ship stands built up and it has a 15 kilometre-long railroad. The shipping traffic and the railway traffic is coordinated by the shipping service and the railway service respectively. There is a covered warehouse area of 101.595 square metres available within the port, these are traditional and modern-built warehouses and there are some shelved warehouses for storing documents. Furhermore, the Ro-Ro terminal operating within the area of the Freeport is suitable for transshipping cars, trucks, agricultural and other types of machines.
As the Freeport is situated in the meeting point of the main communication roads of the region there is also a possibility to build up a harbour and a logistic centre servicing on an international scale too. Due to its capacity of water-side loading, which is unique in the country, the container terminal operating within the area of the Freeport affords the feasibility to join in the container transportation expected to boom on the Danube. Possessing a developement area located just near the city centre and in a mere 7-kilometre distance from the MO ringroad the Freeport also enables some other significant developments besides the functions of port-logistics.
Services:
- loading and unloading of goods transported by railway and public road, transiting or storing them for longer time, customs clearance;
- providing shipping, railroad, public road and other port services for the companies with prolonged settlement within the Port and the ones making use of the Port;
- maintaining and developing the infrastructure of the Port, preserving the Port order and operating it as a National Public Traffic Port and Industrial Park;
- developing, utilizing, leasing and operating properties.
The Freeport was qualified as National Public Traffic Port in 2005.
